Recreational Youth Soccer
The Recreational Program is a developmental soccer program for all youth players. Assigning players to recreational team rosters on the basis of talent by the use of tryouts, invitations, recruiting, or similar processes is prohibited. Recreational players may not be “cut” from a team.
A system for rostering players to teams must be used to establish a fair and balanced distribution of playing talent among all teams participating in the same age group within a given league. North Carolina Soccer supports US Youth Soccer’s teaching philosophy with respect to small-sided soccer in U-06, U-08, U-10 and U-12. This philosophy allows the game to be the teacher by maximizing each player’s touches on the ball and encourages all the players to develop their skills in all positions. Further, the philosophy discourages intense competition until the older age groups.
Competitive Youth Soccer
Competitive (Select) Soccer is offered in three different programs:
- Academy- Boys and Girls ages 9 to 12
- Athena- Girls ages 13 to 19
- Classic- Boys ages 13 to 19
