Niñas en Tecnología was developed in 2010 in response to the widening gender gap in exposure to and interest in technology for girls.   

Niñas en Tecnología goal is to broaden girls’ interests and to help them develop the confidence to use technology tools in whatever profession they pursue. The program raises girls’ interest, confidence, and competence in the crucial area of technology, while helping them develop critical thinking and problem solving skills. Through community service and leadership projects girls learn to use technology in ways that are both motivating and compelling to them. Niñas en Tecnología offers a safe, girls-only environment for exploration and learning for middle and high school girls in diverse communities.

Niñas en Tecnología visit robotic and computer software labs, test out cutting-edge computer games and watch one-of-a-kind robot demonstrations. They also participate in fun robotics challenges and research project presentations. 

Niñas en Tecnología meet professional women in science and technology careers, visit jobsites and go on other scientific exploration field trips. When not trying out Mr. Wizard-style science experiments in our program space, we might be out roller-skating or having a mid-term sundae party. Niñas en Tecnología learn that Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) are important and entertaining!
